From sitting courtside and discussing rodeo for a Detroit Pistons halftime radio broadcast, to horseback with television reporters and covering the Wrangler National Finals Kevin has been involved in promoting rodeo and media relations for nearly 25 years.
And during that time he’s had the opportunity to interview some of the who’s who of rodeo as well as learn from some of the best, including rodeo legend Lecile Harris, legendary rodeo producer Bruce Lehrke and late journalist Don Dowdle and Nick Gates. Additionally, during his time in rodeo Kevin’s been actively involved with rodeo royalty having covered Miss Rodeo America, served on numerous rodeo committees, including immediate past President for the Miss Rodeo Tennessee.
However, for Kevin learning the skill set needed to be a good announcer, promoter and media relations specialist began over 35 years ago, through 4-H. This is where I truly learned the basics of public speaking, appreciating sponsors and work with others. In addition, it was in 4-H I learned about how to work with and care for livestock through showing horses and sheep.
When not working rodeos or announcing livestock shows Kevin can be found spending time with his wife Lisa and step-daughter Miranda. Moreover, he’s earned his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Tennessee and has a master’s degree in Adult Education.
